Washington DC, 28th February 2023 - The Africa Futures Summit, held in Washington DC

Washington DC, 28th February 2023 - The Africa Futures Summit, held in Washington DC, saw experts come together to discuss two critical topics - "Building and strengthening foresight analysis in African futures" and "Africa's development potential in different global futures."
The first forum, "Building and strengthening foresight analysis in African futures," brought together experts in foresight analysis to discuss the importance of foresight analysis in shaping Africa's future. The panel discussed the need for African countries to develop a more comprehensive understanding of emerging trends and possible futures. They also emphasized the importance of investing in data collection and analysis as well as building institutional capacity in foresight analysis.
The second forum, "Africa's development potential in different global futures," focused on the economic and social factors that are likely to impact Africa's development in the coming years. The panel discussed the challenges and opportunities facing Africa in the context of global economic and social changes. They emphasized the need for African countries to diversify their economies and leverage technology to drive economic growth.
The discussions highlighted the following key points:
• African countries need to invest in data collection and analysis to support foresight analysis and informed decision-making.
• Foresight analysis should be integrated into policymaking at all levels of government to support long-term planning and development.
• African countries must diversify their economies and invest in technology to drive economic growth and development.
• Addressing political instability and corruption is critical to creating an enabling environment for business and entrepreneurship.
• International partnerships and collaborations can play an essential role in supporting Africa's development agenda.

STATEMENT FROM DR DANIEL KAWUMA- NUP TEAM LEADER USA ON THE LATE COUNSEL Wameli Anthony .

STATEMENT FROM DR DANIEL KAWUMA- NUP TEAM LEADER USA ON THE LATE
COUNSEL Wameli Anthony .
Dear Comrades and friends in the Ugandan Diaspora Community,
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our beloved Counsel Anthony Wameli. As of this evening March 1st at 6pm EST, his body is on the flight to Uganda from Boston airport via Emirates airlines. We take solace in the knowledge that he lived a life of purpose and passion, and that his legacy will live on through the causes he championed.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who attended the memorial service, participated in the vigils, and provided support through fundraising for his family. Your presence and contributions have been invaluable during this difficult time and have given us all strength and comfort as we mourn the loss of a dear friend and comrade.
In times of grief, it is easy to feel alone and powerless. But you have shown the power of togetherness in the NUP Diaspora. Your presence and solidarity have demonstrated that we can achieve great things when we work together. As the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."
I would also like to extend my deepest appreciation to the organizers of the events and to everyone who worked tirelessly to ensure their success. Your commitment and dedication have been truly remarkable, and we could not have achieved this without you.
To the family of Counsel Wameli, we extend our deepest sympathies and prayers. We pray for strength and comfort during this difficult time, and we hope that the funeral arrangements in Uganda will bring closure and peace.
We would also like to acknowledge the NUP Secretary General David Lewis and Hon. Derrick Nyeko for traveling and being part of the memorial service in Boston. Your presence was greatly appreciated, and it demonstrated the depth of your commitment towards the grieving family.
Once again, I would like to thank you all for the unwavering support and dedication. Let us continue to come together in times of need and build a community rooted in love, compassion, and justice.
May the Lord bless you all abundantly. Rest in Peace Counsel Wameli!
Sincerely,
National Unity Platform Team Leader USA
