Fun Fact:
The name of the Muslim land of Andalusia is linked to the English word 'vandalism'.
How so?
'Andalusia' got its name before the Muslims conquered it in the 8th century CE. Southern Spain was invaded by a Nordic race called the 'Vandals', and the people of that region then called that portion of southern Spain 'The Land of the Vandals', or, in their language as they didn't pronounce the 'v', 'Andalusia'.

Separate to this fact, as the Vandals made their way down Europe, conquering and invading other lands, at one point in time they even invaded Rome, and defaced Roman buildings and temples (just as the Romans did when they conquered other lands). The Romans were of course incensed, and hence the term 'vandalism' was coined to describe this sacrilegious destruction, and eventually entered the English language, to indicate the deliberate and mischievous act of defacing buildings or property.
And now you know!
