President Yoweri Museveni to swear-in for a sixth term (5th after General Election) at Kololo Independence Grounds today. President Museveni, aged 71, has been president since taking power in 1986

1) A group of Members of Parliament has urged the opposition to accept the outcome of the 2016 elections and support president Yoweri Museveni in his efforts of transforming the country. The MPs elect, who included Kasanda South MP Semeo Nsubuga, Nyabushozi MP Fred Mwesigye, Kaliro woman MP Margaret Mbeiza, workers' MP Arinaitwe Rwakajara, and Kabula MP James Kakooza, urged the opposition and the youth to desist from acts which destabilize the country.

3) Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has confirmed that today is not a national public holiday, as earlier reported by different media houses.
4) Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump appears to have softened his stance on temporarily barring Muslims from travelling to the US. Responding to remarks by London Mayor Sadiq Khan, Mr Trump told Fox News Radio the ban was "just a suggestion".
5) Two pieces of aircraft debris found on beaches in Mauritius and South Africa almost certainly came from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, say Malaysian and Australian officials. It is the latest development in efforts to solve the mystery of the aircraft, which went missing in March 2014 ‪#‎NBS5Things‬
