Heads will Roll: Judge Threatens National Hospital Over Metuh
A
Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has berated the National Hospital,
Abuja, over the transfer of PDP Spokesman Olisa Metuh to a Lagos
hospital. The judge, Justice Okon Abang, berated the hospital when he
ruled in an application for adjournment brought by Metuh’s Counsel,
Emeka Etaiba (SAN) in Abuja on Friday. Abang said that the matter was
first adjourned on account of a medical report from the National
Hospital, Abuja. He said thought the National Hospital report did not
states the bed rest duration, the hospital should have informed the
court that the defendant had been transferred to another hospital.
A
group of militants in Akwa-Cross Region under the umbrella of Bakassi
Strike Force, have condemned in totality the activities of the Niger
Delta Avengers in blowing up pipelines. The Bakassi militants group says
these attacks have a retrogressive effect on the economy of
Nigeria. Leader of the group, Simple Benjamin who was speaking at Esuk
Mba, in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State said that
the Federal Government should listen to the agitations of the Niger
Delta Avengers. According to him, there is no struggle without a reason
and so, government should adopt the approach of the American Ambassador
to Nigeria who is an advocate for dialogue as war alone cannot solve
their problems in tackling the issue.
Five
principal suspects in the murder of a 75-year-old market woman, Mrs
Bridget Agbaheme, have been arraigned before a Kano State magistrate
court. Dauda Ahmed and four others were presented before Justice
Abubakar Jibrin on a 4-count charge which they all denied.
The
Director- General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission(NCC), Mr Afam
Ezekude says the commission will soon embark on a nationwide raid of MP3
dealers and outlets across Nigeria. Ezekude who spoke to the News
Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday, said; “we are set to clamp
down heavily on pirates who deal in MP3 across the country’’.
Technology
hyper-billionaire Bill Gates says the answer is chickens. And that’s
not the name of new Microsoft software. Gates, the founder of the
world’s largest software company, says the best thing to improve the
lives of the world’s poorest is not computers or the Internet but
raising a few roosters and hens. “It’s pretty clear to me that just about anyone who’s living in extreme poverty is better off if they have chickens,” he said this week on his website GatesNotes.com.
