Tel Aviv, Israel | @alleyec |
Tel
Aviv combines the metropolitan
elegance of old Europe with the laidback and sunny attitude of a beach
town. The city runs 24/7, with bronzed beachgoers spilling onto the
bright city streets as soon as the sun goes down. This city is fresh and
young, embracing a vitality many would not expect from Israel. From the
historic Jaffa, to the thrumming nightclubs and chic neighborhoods, Tel
Aviv is for the chameleon traveler who wants to do it all. |

Spring and
Fall |
On
the sunny coast of Israel, Tel Aviv receives plenty of sunshine. Many
visitors like to hit up the city in the summer to embrace those beach
vibes, but spring and fall are the best times to visit, boasting
pleasant temperatures and few crowds. We recommend booking your trip in
May so you get the best of everything Tel Aviv has to offer. |

Ha'carmel Market, Tel Aviv | @mar_vin_7 |
Corner the Market |
Everyone
has their own opinion on which of Tel Aviv’s markets is the best. Is it
the famous Carmel Market, with its trendy threads and boutique food
stalls? Or indoor Sarona Market which overflows with culinary delights?
Or maybe you’re looking for a great trinket to bring home at the Jaffa
flea market. If you’d rather hold onto your money, markets are still a
great way to explore different parts of the city, and mingle with locals
on their home turf. |

Life's a Beach |
Don’t
let the flashy nightlife fool you - Tel Aviv is a beach town. Taking a
stroll down the Tayelet promenade is necessary to get the full
experience. This is an all-day affair, so don’t rush. Start with a cup
of coffee in Jaffa, and maybe pause to peruse the
collection at the Etzel Art Museum. Lay your towel down and catch some
sun at one of Tel Aviv’s 16 beaches,
before continuing your walk further north. Stop for a yoga class, some
shopping, or a game of Matkot (racquetball). End the night at a rooftop
restaurant to watch the sun set over the water. |

This is What You Came For |
For
the night owls, it’s time to have fun. Tel Aviv is bursting with hip
neighborhood bars where you can grab a drink with friends. The real
party is on Rothschild Boulevard, which has activity on every corner.
Check out Kuli Alma, an underground bar with pop-up shops and awesome DJs, The Block, the biggest nightclub in the
city, or TEDER.FM, an outdoor venue with occasional special events. |

Where Banksy Feels at Home |
Tel
Aviv is home to several incredible art museums, but for those who don’t
want to be cooped up in a museum all day (and with Tel Aviv’s 300+ days
of sunshine, who can blame them?) hit the streets for a graffiti tour.
You can join an organized street art tour, or guide yourself and get lost in the murals on Florentin street. |

"I
had no idea what Israel was about when I first landed here. I did no
research, and I had no clue. But I allowed myself to explore freely.
Around every corner I found a little surprise, then a bigger one and
another one. Nothing gives you more freedom than taking a bike or
renting a scooter and driving up and down the promenade along the clear
warm turquoise ocean. I discovered a range of amazing street art
everywhere. The highlight was in the ancient 3,500-year-old Port of
Jaffa, by an artist called Herakut." |

Travel Tips |
Tel
Aviv is not the cheapest city in the world, but you can still tackle
this city on a budget. Here are our top tips for exploring on the cheap : |
| Walk or Bike |
| Tel Aviv is surprisingly
small, so you should be able to get around easily without taxis. Just make sure to adhere to bike laws. |
|
| Take Advantage of Free Attractions |
| The beach isn’t the only free attraction in Tel Aviv. Check out blogs like DIY Tel Aviv to find free events happening during your stay. |
|
| Research Before Your Night Out |
| Partying
in Tel Aviv is necessary, but not cheap. Do a little research on
specials being offered at different bars, such as buying cheaper entry
tickets online or looking for bracelet bars for fixed-price drinks. |

"I Discover To...fall in love, learn more about
myself, enjoy every minute, all day long, every day." |
"Israel
was one of my 'bucket list' countries to visit. Every day we explored
something cool like amazing restaurants, hidden bars, clubs, coffee
bars, and small historical streets with beautiful crowds. We had an
amazing time and we were lucky to meet amazing people. But our main
reason to visit Tel Aviv this time, was because of friends getting
married there. It was amazing to celebrate love with people from all
around the world, with different religions and just feel one thing.
Total bliss." |
