Fall in love with St. Tropez and the French Riviera
The charming city of St. Tropez is easily one of the most recognizable names on the French Riviera. All I knew about the city, which name alone conjures up images of champagne-fuelled yacht parties and beaches overcrowded with tanned people, I learnt from the series The Troops of St. Tropez
. If I have to rely on the movie, I would say that nothing has changed since 1964 (well maybe except for the motorcycle riding, adrenaline-seeking nuns.) The famous port of St. Tropez is still lined with luxurious yachts, which all have aristocratic names.
Beneath all the glitter, at the cobbled lanes in the old fishing quarter, can be found the quaint beauty and charm of the traditional fishing village which lies at the city's heart.
Each summer thousands of visitors are walking along the streets, turning the quiet city into a vibrant spot of fun and entertainment. The old men play petanque (a variant on the game of bowls) beneath plane trees, in the breezy afternoons, while the couples embark on romantic splendor walks from beach to beach along the coastal path.
