Muhammadi Nsereko about the 20M fund for every MP to sensitize people about the COVID19 pandemic.
"Dear comrades,
I have received enormous calls since morning of people asking me about 20 million fund for MPs.
On 8th April a supplementary budget was presented which saw a report of the majority presented by the budget committee chairman presented by Hon Lugolobi Amos (NRM)and that of the minority presented by Hon Gerald Karuhanga (independent) . When a question was put, the majority defeated us without much debate.
Whereas we didn’t support motion of the majority position, we had no numbers to defeat their position. This should remind people the choices they make during elections.
On many occasions including marriage and divorce bills we have returned this money and government has continued to use it as it wishes and not as we wish. This time I won’t return this money to the government to but tear gas and sticks to beat up my people.
Personally at the beginning of the lock down I donated food, 3 ambulances and cash supplements worthy 100m. On a daily basis I continue to give donations of nearly 5 million shillings. This will not stop me from continuing to offer help. I also know many MPs have also done the same or even more. I salute them all. Let every one judge their own legislator not all of us in a batch.
Whereas we lost the debate battle ,we shall not loose the sensible cause of the bigger war. I urge all my brothers who think the same way, that incase we receive this money which we have not received yet ,we should all donate it as below:
1. The medical workers in our constituencies. 10,000,000m
2. Send more food support to our people through mobile money. Atleast choose 1000 vulnerable people and send 10,000 shillings to each to buy some food.
In case I get it that’s what I will do and advise others to do. Let’s feed the needy directly and also help medical workers.
I will come live later to address this matter."
