Two more Corona virus cases recorded in Namibia
Namibia has confirmed two more positive cases of the Coronavirus. The Ministry of Health and Social Services confirmed the two new cases this morning (Sunday 5 April 2020) in a press statement from the Covid-19 Communication Centre. This bring the total cases of confirmed Coronavirus infections in Namibia to 16 people. Namibia remains blessed under these trying circumstances with zero deaths.
Namibia’s relevant authorities remains vigilant in fighting the spread of the Coronavirus with the “Three Golden T’s”: Tracing, Testing and Treating.
The two cases were detected thanks to continuous sampling of people who might have been in contact with cases one to fourteen in the past days. A total of 362 samples has been taken to date and send to laboratories in Namibia and South Africa. Namibia is praised for setting up special Covid-19 clinics where people can come to if they suffer relevant symptoms and suspect they might have contracted the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Case number 15 is a 31-year old male who contact with a friend from South Africa on 26 March 2020. The friend since returned to South Africa. On 30 March this person went to the Robert Mugabe Clinic, complaining of a cough, muscle pains and a sore throat.
A specimen was taken and sent for testing. It came back positive yesterday (Saturday 4 April 2020) and he is now in isolation. The person’s condition is described as satisfactory.
Case number 16 is a 46-year old medical practitioner who traveled to South Africa. He also reported to the Robert Mugabe Clinic complaining of a fever, chill, body aches and a sore throat. A specimen was taken and the tests came back as positive also on Saturday 4 April 2020. The person is also in isolation. His condition is satisfactory.
