There are now 22,583 confirmed cases of coronavirus in South Africa 429 deaths an increase by 22. There are 11,000 active cases in the country – 800 in hospital, and 128 in intensive care.
The whole of South Africa will move to level 3 lockdown from 1 June. People will be able to exercise at any time provided this is not done in groups.
Alcohol to be sold for home consumption on specified days and limited hours but tobacco products prohibited.
Level 3 will involve the return of most of the activities of the economy. Public servants spaza shops, informal traders, retailers and whole sellers will all fully go back to work.
Limited domestic travel will be allowed.
All staff above 60 and others which have comorbidities should stay at home
Classes for grades 7 and 12 learners will resume from 1 June. Parents will not be forced to send their children to school if they feel uncomfortable.
Prohibited businesses include:
Restaurants, bars and pubs – except for the delivery and collection of food
Accommodation and air travel – except for business, where announcements will be made at a later date
Conferences, events, entertainment and sporting activities
Personal care, like hairdressing and beauty services
