STRUGGLE/ SPEAK UP AND THRIVE OR KEEP SILENT AND PERISH.
President Kizza Besigye delivers the 2nd State of the People Address (SOPA) focusing on economic recovery, regeneration of people’s welfare to survive and rehabilitation of the health sector to meet people’s health needs.
Besigye who says Uganda is facing serious political and economic challenges resulting from political mismanagement, states that people are anxious and distressed, and the economy is troubled and yet the political elites and policy makers are either profiteering from the challenges or clueless on how to resolve national problems.
Besigye says following outbreak of Coronavirus, the Museveni regime has demonstrated a high appetite to accumulate money to achieve Museveni’s individual political endeavors and plans instead of drafting plans and policies that would support the entire population.
Besigye calls for a national conversation to demand for reappropriation of resources that could see 19.7trillion invested in providing stimulus package for SMEs in distress, revive the healthcare sector and improve people’s lives and welfare.
Besigye states that Ugandans must decided between perishing and surviving, indicating that silence or struggle to demand for effective use of public funds will make the difference.
The State of the People took place at State House Kasangati garden in presence of selected People’s Government officials in line with WHO guidelines of social distancing.
One Uganda One People
