Judge Paul Scoggin on Thursday 4th June 2020 set $1 million bail for three former Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd, a black man whose killing at the hands of the police set off widespread protests. Bail for the three Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao would even be lowered to $750,000 if they greed to certain conditions, including surrendering any personal firearms. They may face up to 40 years in prison if convicted for helping in carrying out second-degree murder. Derek Chauvin, the police officer who pinned his knee into Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes and is charged with second-degree murder, is due in court on Monday.
