2021 IS HERE, THE TIME TO TELL THOSE WHO MISTAKE OUR SILENCE FOR WEAKNESS THAT WE HAVE BEEN WATCHING.
The youth of Uganda were supposed to join the world in celebrating the International Youths Day on 12th August 2020. unfortunately, this was not the mood as old men seated in air-conditioned rooms used the day to lecture us on how we are sleepy which may not be too far from the truth.
Our country was seized many years before most of us were born with a promise of a better Uganda. But as we speak, we face an uncertain future.
The future of the country is uncertain; economically, socially and politically.
We are all being bundled into a dark tunnel and like sheep to the slaughter, many are following quietly, others pretend to be closer to the front wagon and many times in a while have to look behind to see those shouting so that they can wink them into silence.
Our rulers, most of who shall be dead in the next 20 years are having the best of their life; they throw a bone behind their back and laugh as they watch us scramble for who takes the bone; we prepare a meal and sit under the table waiting for the crumbs.
That is why our misrulers deem us sleepy. But all is not lost. 2021 is here, the time to tell those who mistake our silence for weakness that we have been watching. And now, more than ever we are ready to take back what belongs to us; power.
Let us save our nation before it is too late. For as Bobi Wine says, “everything seems to be wrong, but we have the chance to make it right” from now onwards to 2021.
