Dictators are horrible; I wish all Ugandans could realise this and organise around the one idea of changing the regime. There are voices which have incessantly denied the fact that the solution to Uganda's problems is removal of the president Museveni but these same people cannot tell you any workable solution without hitting a dead end.

In Belarus, the country went to polls on Sunday 9th August 2020 in what the media describes as the most challenging to the last sitting dictator of Europe. His opponent is Svetlana Tikhanovskay, a 37 year old teacher. Tikhanovskay asserts that she is not a politician and indeed her mission is to liberate the country whose dictator has organised elections 5 times and won all, just like Uganda's dictator.

Tikhanovskay "was not afraid of saying that she did not have all the answers and admitted that she was no expert regarding foreign policy or economic reform." DW reports.

Basically, she is moved by circumstances and she finds herself in this position not because she loves to be in politics which puts her in the firing line of the dictator, but because she believes that it "falls upon a generation to be great" and redeem themselves.

There are times when we need to cast the political qualification aside, redeem the nation and then fix the qualifications later. I doubt whether Tikhanovskay can win this election but she has played her part and it is upon her generation to rise up and be great even when the election is rigged.

Uganda is next, the aftermath of the 2021 election shall define our generation as to whether we shall rise up to be great or we shall forever be burried in the chaos and confusion of the Museveni generation, a generation of our grandfathers.

When we lose our guard, the next election shall be 5 years from 2021 and the last time I checked, none of us is growing any younger. Our generation should rise up; our center of strength is Bobi Wine but he will be as strong as we, the people.

Play your part. One thing which you must all remember and keep at heart is the fact that the most important person in this struggle is YOU. Don't look at how many have defected and left the cause, look at what you're doing everyday to liberate your nation. Remember what Nelson Mandela said; "Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great". We're that generation, the time is now!
