National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters in South Africa yesterday launched party cards as a confirmation to membership registration in different provinces across the country. Registration cards were and still are obtained at a basic fee of R200 to which an extra donated amount may still be accepted as a donation to support the cause of the party. Original were unpacked as sent from the NUP secretariat in Kamwokya bearing a bar code and a space where the member's detailed are filled. A registration was also provided in which details of the registered members are also recorded.
The first 10-15 cards were sold by auction in a bid to fundraise for the party. The highest bidder in every province became the first person to set record as the first to register. A clear follow up of all the registration processes in the different provinces indicated that the first person to register in South Africa was Johannesburg based socialite Medi Moore who took the party card at R3000, then the rest followed respectively.
The launching programmes were presided over by NUP coordinators in their respective provinces/regions. Ali Mawale presided over the launch in Randburg, Jaja Ibu (who is also the national coordniator in South Africa) did in Capetown while Tonnix headed the launch in Durban Kwazulu Natal. NUP cards are now available in South Africa at R200 through the coordinators in respective provinces.
