South Africa extends its lockdown for a further two weeks
South Africa is extending its nationwide lockdown to the end of April, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced in an address to the South African nation minutes ago [Thursday, 9 April 2020, 20:15].
South Africa’s confirmed Coronavirus infections near 2 000 people with 18 fatalities.
Ramaphosa explained although the infection rate is within manageable measures, the extension of the lockdown is necessary to prevent at all costs the Coronavirus infections to reach pandemic levels.
It was understood from the address by President Ramaphosa, the extension of the lockdown will not influence the current arrangements with regard to the export of South African consumer products and essential products to Namibia
