A round of applause to these amazing women who are working hard to keep a nation safe!
Dr Ruth Aceng is the Minister of Health since 6 June 2016. She is a paediatrician and was the Director General of Medical Services in the Ministry of Health. She has dealt with so much in these last 3years. She handled the immunisation challenges well and has become the face of the fight against corona in Uganda!
Dr Diana Atwiine is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, appointed on 4 November 2016. She is a specialist in internal medicine and was one of the President's personal and most trusted physicians. She also headed the Medicine and Health Services Delivery Monitoring Units that investigated corruption in Ugandan hospitals and arrested and indicted many doctors and nurses found guilty. She helped recover stolen drugs worth UGX 200M and revealer nearly 300 ghost workers on the payroll of Mulago National Referral Hospital.
Dr Monica Musenero Masanza is a consultant epidemiologist with qualifications in veterinary medicine, microbiology and public health. She gained international reputation for being the face of the fight against Ebola in Uganda. When Ebola hit Sierra Leone, she parked up her bags and headed there. For 5 months, she was stationed in Kenema, the heart of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone. She helped the country put in place systems and strategies and did not leave until Ebola was kicked out of Sierra Leone.
A round of applause to these women. We should appreciate them. They are well qualified for the job they do. Also, all 3 are prayerful women who fight the virus in one hand and hold the Bible in the other. We are truly in good hands!
These women join the hundreds of medical health professionals who are treating and handling Corona patients on a day to day basis. We appreciate you all.
