BUSOGA KINGDOM HANDS OVER THE LAST BATCH OF COVID RELIEF TO THE DISTRICT TASK FORCES
The Chairman of Jinja District COVID-19 Task Force and RDC Jinja District Eric Sakwa and his team have received 30 tonnes of posho, 3.898 tones of beans and assortment of sanitizers, and detergents as OBB dispatched the last batch of the Kyabazinga Covid Relief food.
The food was handed over by the Katukiro of Busoga, Owek. Joseph Muvawala in presence of Dep Katukiro Osman Noor, and the Kyabazinga Covid 19 team coordinator Owek Yudaya Babirye Kigenyi at the OBB dispatch store in Jinja.
The kingdom had earlier on donated 44 tonnes to other districts task forces.
The last batch of posho was allocated to Jinja (30), Kamuli/ Buyende (8) and the 8.2 was through the task force distributed to special categories including media, security, OBB associated voluntary groups among others.
During the handover, the Katukiro of Busoga, Joseph Muvawala thanked the Basoga and friends of Busoga for the generosity and contribution towards giving a hand to the less fortunate.
He commended Owek Osman Noor Ahmed, Owek Prof Balunywa and his team plus the Indian Community for a job well done on behalf of his majesty the Kyabazinga.
The Second Deputy Katukiro Owek. Noor Ahmed who led the mobilization thanked everyone who responded to his call. He thanked the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga for kick starting this exercise by donating 20 tones of Maize flour.
He said her generosity triggered other generous members of Busoga and friends who contributed a total of 90.2tones of Maize flours, 3.898 tones of beans and cash of about10 million shillings so far.
He revealed that the 10m will be used to buy more 5 tones of Maize flour that will be distributed to the various vulnerable communities in Busoga.
On behalf of the DTF, the chairman Eric Sakwa expressed sincere appreciation to His Majesty The Isebantu Kyabazinga of Busoga for being an exemplary cultural leader with a heart for humanity, he also thanked all donors and the Indian Association Jinja for contributing towards the relief for the people of Jinja and greater Busoga .
He was accompanied by other DTF members like the District Chairman Titus Kisambira and the DHO Dr. Dyogo Peter.
Owek Yudaya Babirye Kigenyi regretted the desperate situation in Busoga where huge numbers of people are going without food. She appealed to all able Basoga and friends to help and support those in extreme circumstances in this period in all possible ways.
The Kyabazinga COVID 19 team sincerely thanks every one for the generosity!
